FOIA Request to Montgomery County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

In a bid to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Pinehurst Today have sent a request under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., to the Montgomery County Election Department. The request seeks information about all candidates running in the upcoming spring election.

Specifically, we have asked for details including each candidate’s first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation. In addition, we have requested contact information for each candidate such as their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We also noted our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information to the public.

We look forward to receiving this information from the Montgomery County Election Department so that we can continue providing our readers with timely and accurate coverage of local elections.
