MCTXSheriff Investigating Homicide in Willis

On February 23, 2023, at 3:00am, Willis Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Pine Circle Drive in Willis, Texas.  While enroute, Deputies were advised of an altercation outside the home between two family members.  During the confrontation the suspect 33-year-old Oscar Martinez, shot his brother, 30-year-old Julio Martinez, and fled the scene in a vehicle.  Upon arrival, law enforcement attempted life-saving measures on Julio Martinez; however, he succumbed to his injures.  Law enforcement was able to locate the vehicle that fled and detained Oscar Martinez.  

Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigators, along with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. Oscar Martinez was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and is being charged with murder.

This is an ongoing joint investigation with the Willis Police Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and no further details are available at this time.
