It’s almost time for the Pinecone Pathways Program, an experience we’re launching to mark North Carolina’s Year of the Trail. The CVB partnered with glassmakers at Starworks Center for Creative Enterprise to produce 100 colorful glass pinecones which will be hidden along trails throughout Moore County starting on March 20, the first day of spring.
Throughout spring, glass pinecones will be hidden in weekly increments along selected trails throughout Moore County. Watch our social media for an announcement each week alerting pinecone hunters to what trails they should explore to find a pinecone. The pinecones are actual size and will be tagged with a special number and QR code, so finders can register them and be eligible to win a prize including a two-night stay in the Pinehurst area and a $250 gift card.
Because there will only be a limited number of pinecones to be found in the program, the CVB asks finders only keep one and any additional ones found remain hidden on the trail.
