In essence, this bill appropriates $1.0 million in recurring funds for both the 2025-26 and 2026-27 fiscal years to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Aging and Adult Services, to expand the Project Caregiver Alternatives to Running on Empty (Project C.A.R.E.) program. The program supports family caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. The bill emphasizes the need for continued financial backing to enhance the services provided under Project C.A.R.E., which aims to alleviate the burden on caregivers. The act is set to become effective on July 1, 2025.
