Several area organizations benefited from more than $3,000 in grants that the Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation recently awarded, the nonprofit's board of advisors said.
The foundation awarded $3,250 to the Bertie County Arts Council, the Roanoke Chowan Humane Society and the Hertford County, Inc. Union Rural Fire Department, the advisors said in a news release about the grants.
The Arts Council received $1,400, which it will use for arts-based education, according to the news release about the financial awards. The Humane Society, with its $1,000 grant, fund cat spay and neuter services. The fire department plans to use the $850 grant award engine ladder test and repair.
"We are proud to support these nonprofit programs that are so vital to the community," Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation advisory board president John Tayloe said in the news release. "We are grateful to the many generous individuals and organizations that have supported our work to inspire philanthropy across our community."
