State Sen. Tom McInnis (R-Richmond) called attention to a report from the North Carolina Free Enterprise Foundation showing Republicans favoring business-friendly policies at a nearly 2-to-1 ratio over Democrats in the General Assembly.

McInnis himself received the second-highest business-friendly rating in the 2019 report, the Republican lawmaker posted to his Facebook page on Aug. 20

“A new N.C. Free Enterprise Foundation report shows Republican lawmakers scored an average of 91.95% on business-related decisions during the 2019 legislative session. Democrats averaged only 57.9%,” McInnis said in his Facebook post along with a link to an article discussing the report.

The basis of the ratings was 12 votes in the state Senate and 13 votes in the state House of Representatives during 2019, a Carolina Journal article reported in December. The policy covered by those votes included outdoor advertising laws, changes to how small businesses buy health care for their workers, the North Carolina Farm Act, the Map Act, electric co-op rural broadband services, regulatory reform and tax reduction.
