Sandhills Community College issued the following announcement on Dec. 16.
It’s a new year – the perfect time to start training for a new career. The Advanced Manufacturing division at Sandhills Community College offers high-tech, in-demand career training using state-of-the-art equipment. This month, begin training for a career in welding.
“Welding Essentials” focuses on the essentials used in basic MIG and Stick welding. The class is designed to train students for basic welding skills. The focus is on safety and techniques including metal cutting and fitting, and welding skills using generally recognized industry processes.
Held on Saturdays, Jan. 8-June 25 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., “Welding Essentials” will cost $185 plus the cost of material fees. Financial aid and scholarships are available for this class. Visit sandhills.edu/available-funds-for-your-training for information and to apply.
Registration
Seats are still available for this class. To register, call Continuing Education at (910) 695-3980 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. All major credit cards are accepted. Pre-register at sandhills.edu/cereg. Pre-registrations must be made two days before class starts.
Spring Semester
Curriculum classes will begin on January 10. In addition to the traditional 16-week semester, there will be two eight-week sessions, one beginning January 10 and the second March 14. Students can take a mix of full-semester classes alongside eight-week sessions. Continuing Education classes begin throughout the semester.
New students to Sandhills who wish to take curriculum (college credit) classes will be awarded one free class for the spring semester. This a $311 value.
A free health care plan will also be provided to all curriculum students. This is a $120 value. Students are to submit their application form through E-Forms (Student-Care-on-the-Go form). This special offer is not available to CCP students.

CCP Classes for High School Students
Local high school students can take classes at SCC when a junior and senior. Those successfully completing four CCP classes qualify for the Sandhills Promise.
