Sandhills Community College issued the following announcement on Dec. 16.

The Sandhills Community College Small Business Center aims to increase the number and success rate of viable small businesses by providing high quality, readily accessible assistance to prospective and existing small business owners leading to job creation and retention.

Small Business Development Series

“Start Your Business” is for entrepreneurs and small business owners. Students will learn how innovative companies create actionable, relevant and sustainable business strategies. Discover models taught in business schools along with practical applications and strategies. Learn about resources needed to craft a business strategy that attracts investors, lenders and customers, and supports a profitable small business model.

“Start Your Business” will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 18 from 6-8 p.m.

In “Create a Winning Business Plan,” participants will learn how to turn their small business ideas into a solid plan for financing and long-term success. They’ll discover how marketing, operations and finance are interrelated. And see how a business plan is used by potential lenders, the dos and don’ts, and steps for making the process easy.

“Create a Winning Business Plan” will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 25 from 6-8 p.m.

QuickBooks Online

In the two-part series attendees will be introduced to the cloud-based software QuickBooks Online. In “QuickBooks Online I” students will discover ways this popular online software can help small business owners save time, simplify bookkeeping, and avoid costly errors. Participants will learn account setup and how to track business income and expenses.

“QuickBooks Online I” will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 19 from 6-8 p.m.

In “QuickBooks Online II,” participants will learn more about using the cloud-based software QuickBooks Online. They’ll discover advanced topics on managing accounts receivable and accounts payable, and learn to reconcile small business bank accounts, manage inventory, and create financial reports.

“QuickBooks Online II” will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 26 from 6-8 p.m.

Business Development Webinar Series

In “ABCs of Starting a Small Business on a Limited Budget” students will learn the how-tos for starting a small business and winning strategies used by low-cost start-ups.

“ABCs of Starting a Small Business on a Limited Budget” will be held on Thursday, Jan. 20 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

In “Finding Your Customer and Creating a Marketing Plan” attendees will learn how to clearly describe their customer and create a plan to reach them. Participants will learn how many customers are in their market area, and discover five steps of a winning plan.

“Finding Your Customer and Creating a Marketing Plan” will be held on Thursday, Jan. 27 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Spring Semester

Curriculum classes will begin on January 10. In addition to the traditional 16-week semester, there will be two eight-week sessions, one beginning January 10 and the second March 14. Students can take a mix of full-semester classes alongside eight-week sessions. Continuing Education classes begin throughout the semester.

New students to Sandhills who wish to take curriculum (college credit) classes will be awarded one free class for the spring semester. This is a $311 value.

A free health care plan will also be provided to all curriculum students. This is a $120 value. Students are to submit their application form through E-Forms (Student-Care-on-the-Go form). This special offer is not available to CCP students.

CCP Classes for High School Students
