Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields would like to warn citizens of multiple scams that have recently been reported to the Sheriff’s Office.
In recent reports, citizens are contacted by a (910)722-3222 number and told they are speaking with a member of the MCSO. The callers identify themselves as either Sgt. Ward, Capt. Cunningham, Officer Daniels, or Mrs. Watson. Citizens are told they have pending charges for missing jury duty and that there was a warrant out for their arrest. To avoid arrest warrants, they are instructed to get Green Dot Cards and give personal information to the caller.

Law enforcement agencies will NEVER demand money from a citizen to avoid arrest. If you are ever in doubt, hang up and call the Moore County Sheriff's Office at 910-947-2931 with any questions or concerns.
