Hello to our Green Ridge Elementary School Families! I am Dr. Erin West, and I am very excited to be your new principal! Working at Green Ridge is a dream come true for me. I love children and families and am very impressed by the kindness and excitement I have already encountered from everyone in the community. It is my commitment to you that your children will learn in a safe, loving, welcoming, and joyful environment every day.
I am originally from Michigan and have a B.A. in elementary education from Alma College. I have a Master's in school administration from Fayetteville State University, and an EDS and Ed.D. in educational leadership from Appalachian State University. I have many years of teaching and administrative experience. I taught kindergarten, first grade, and preschool, and was a middle and high school assistant principal. I also taught teacher education courses at Michigan State University, served as a high school testing coordinator, and worked in the non-profit world as a mentor and tutoring coordinator. No matter my role or position, children are my passion. I believe in building a strong foundation for children, and I know that together we can make this year a success for our students!
I am married to my wonderful husband Matt, and we have two sweet boys, James, 8, and Jacob, 6. We also have two very large and very spoiled dogs! We love to spend time outside, read, eat many different types of food, participate in church, and play many different sports.
My motto is that you are safe, you are loved, and you are welcome here. At Green Ridge Elementary, we are a family, and I am honored to join such a wonderful and supportive family! My door is always open if you need anything. I look forward to meeting you all at open house! We will have a wonderful school year!
