Sheriff Ronnie Fields is providing an update following a shooting that occurred in the Pinebluff area of Moore County.
On January 30, 2023, shortly after 4 PM, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a female who had been shot at a residence in the Pinebluff area of Moore County. Upon arriving, deputies heard additional gunshots inside the residence. Deputies entered the residence and found 39-year-old Nicole Lowen who had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. They also discovered 42-year-old Jason Vuncannon deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Lowen and Vuncannon both resided where the shooting occurred, and the shooting is being investigated as a domestic incident.
Lowen was airlifted to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill where she is listed in critical condition.
Sheriff’s investigators are still working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
