WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-09) joined Conference Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Education and Workforce Committee Chair Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and other House Republican Members in urging the Department of Education to reverse guidance blocking federal funding for school archery and hunting courses.

“I’m proud to stand with Reps. Stefanik, Foxx and 63 others to call on Secretary Cardona and the Biden administration to stop this war on sports shooting education immediately,” said Rep. Hudson. “These programs give our future conservationists and sportsmen and women new opportunities and passions, while teaching public safety, self-esteem, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.”

Last week, Rep. Hudson and Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) introduced the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act in direct response to the Department of Education’s confirmation that they are withholding funds for critical hunting and archery programs within longstanding elementary and secondary school curriculum.
