WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-09) issued a statement following the U.S. House of Representatives' passage of the Fiscal Year 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (MilConVA). The legislation allocates funding for military construction and family housing while fully supporting veterans' benefits programs, including those related to disability and pension benefits, education, healthcare, and insurance and loan programs.

"As the representative of the largest military base in the world, my priority is to ensure Washington works for the thousands of brave men and women who sacrifice so much for our freedoms," said Rep. Hudson. "I am proud to secure big wins for our troops, their families, and our veterans, and will continue fighting to ensure they have the support they deserve."

Rep. Hudson secured several key allocations in the FY 2025 MilConVA Act for Fort Liberty, formerly known as Fort Bragg:

- $14.2 million for the Department of the Army Automated Infantry Platoon Battle Course

- $30 million for the Department of the Army SOF Mackall Company Operations Facilities

- $4 million for improving Child Development Center spaces

- $11.8 million for the Department of the Army SOF Arms Room Addition

- $16 billion for Department of Veterans Affairs mental health programs, including $3 billion for suicide prevention

- Report language regarding Department of Veterans Affairs Traumatic Brain Injury Program

The FY 2025 MilConVA Act honors commitments to veterans by providing nearly $75.5 million above the President's Budget request for veterans' healthcare, benefits, and VA programs, including needs related to toxic exposures.

In terms of national security support:

- The act provides nearly $412 million above the President's Budget Request for military construction.

- It maintains prohibitions on closing Naval Station Guantanamo Bay and using military construction funds to build facilities for detainees on U.S. soil.

The act also includes provisions that prohibit funds from being used to lobby Congress or promote critical race theory while enforcing executive orders on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
