U.S. Representative Dan Bishop (R-NC) has cast his vote in favor of initiating an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, citing potential corruption within the Biden family’s foreign dealings as a cause for concern. Bishop stressed the importance of investigating whether Biden’s actions were influenced by financial incentives or if he misused his authority for personal gain.

In a series of statements, U.S. Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC), Congressman at United States House of Representatives, stated: “The facts don’t lie – Our committees have already uncovered substantial evidence that Joe Biden was involved in Hunter’s corrupt foreign dealings, and we must leave no stone unturned.” He further added, “We will follow the facts wherever they lead.”

Bishop also made a post on social media platform X where he demanded answers to three critical questions: “Did Joe Biden take any official actions due to money or bribes provided to him and his family? Did Joe Biden abuse his office by providing foreign interests access and favors in exchange for payments to him and his family? Did Joe Biden obstruct investigations into his son, Hunter? We will follow the facts wherever they lead.”

According to AP News, House Republicans voted 221-212 along party lines to initiate an impeachment process that could potentially have severe consequences for President Biden. In response to this move, President Biden questioned the priorities of the Republicans who are targeting an inquiry against him and his family.

Fox News reports that GOP-controlled Oversight, Ways & Means, and Judiciary committees have investigated claims that Biden used his vice-presidential position for family enrichment through foreign ventures. The focus is notably on James Biden and Hunter Biden, with Hunter currently facing federal probes on tax and firearm charges.

In response to these allegations, President Biden was quoted by Fox News saying: “Instead of doing anything to help make Americans’ lives better, they are focused on attacking me with lies. Instead of doing their job on the urgent work that needs to be done, they are choosing to waste time on this baseless political stunt that even Republicans in Congress admit is not supported by facts.”

As stated on Bishop’s official website, Bishop has been serving as the U.S. representative for North Carolina’s 8th congressional district since 2019 (formerly numbered as the 9th). This district encompasses south-central Mecklenburg, Union, Anson, Richmond, Scotland, Robeson, Hoke, and southern Moore Counties.
