Hudson Announces 2024 Congressional Art Competition

February 1, 2024

Congressman Hudson is excited to announce the commencement of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. This annual event provides an opportunity for young artists in the district to showcase their creativity and talent.

In a statement released today, Congressman Hudson expressed his enthusiasm for the competition, stating, "I am delighted to announce the start of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. This event not only celebrates the artistic abilities of our district's youth but also highlights the importance of arts education."

The competition is open to all high school students in the district, and the winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Additionally, the winning artist will receive two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C., to attend the national ceremony.

Congressman Hudson emphasized the significance of the competition, saying, "This competition provides a platform for young artists to have their work recognized on a national level. It is an incredible opportunity for them to gain exposure and build their portfolios."

To participate, students must submit their artwork to Congressman Hudson's office by April 15, 2024. A panel of local art professionals will judge the submissions based on originality, skill, and artistic vision. The winner will be announced on May 1, 2024.

In the statement, Congressman Hudson also expressed his gratitude to the judges and sponsors who make the competition possible. He stated, "I would like to thank the panel of judges who volunteer their time and expertise to evaluate the submissions. Their commitment to supporting young artists is commendable."

Local businesses and organizations have generously sponsored the competition, contributing to the prizes and the exhibition expenses. Congressman Hudson acknowledged their support, stating, "I am grateful for the generosity of our sponsors, who have made it possible to provide meaningful prizes and showcase the winning artwork in such a prestigious location."

The Congressional Art Competition has been a tradition since 1982 and has provided an outlet for young artists across the country to display their artwork in the U.S. Capitol. Congressman Hudson encouraged all eligible students to participate, saying, "I encourage every high school student in our district with a passion for art to seize this opportunity. I look forward to seeing the incredible talent our community has to offer."

As the deadline for submissions approaches, Congressman Hudson and his team are eagerly anticipating the display of artistic talent from the district's youth. The competition not only highlights the importance of arts education but also serves as a platform for young artists to gain recognition and pursue their passion.

The 2024 Congressional Art Competition is an exciting opportunity for high school students to showcase their artistic abilities and potentially have their work displayed in the nation's capital. With the support of generous sponsors and the dedication of a panel of judges, this competition promises to be a celebration of creativity and talent.
