Last week at the Piedmont Small Grains Field Day producers learned about a Scab alert system that can help producers decide if fungicide applications are necessary. Research shows that there is no increase in yield from applying fungicide when no disease or risk of disease are present. Producers also looked at the ongoing variety trial. Selecting wheat based on more than 1 year of data and taking into account factors for your area is crucial to choosing the correct variety.
